# دار الكرمة (Alkarma Books)

> دار الكرمة ("Dar Al Karma" / Alkarma Books) is an Arabic publishing house
> founded in Cairo, Egypt in 2013, and an online bookstore selling its own
> titles alongside books from other Arabic publishers. All content, pricing
> and checkout are Arabic-language and in Egyptian pounds (EGP).

Alkarma publishes Arabic and translated books — with a focus on novels,
history, biography and memoir, and personal development — and is the publisher
for a number of leading Egyptian writers including إبراهيم عيسى (Ibrahim Eissa),
عمر طاهر (Omar Taher), أحمد خالد توفيق (Ahmed Khaled Tawfik),
محمد المنسي قنديل (Mohamed El-Mansi Qindeel), جلال أمين (Galal Amin) and
عز الدين شكري فشير (Ezzedine Choukri Fishere).

It was named "Best Publisher" by the Egyptian Publishers Association and the
General Egyptian Book Organisation in 2020, and won the encouragement award of
the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding in 2022.

Notable series: «مختارات الكرمة» (rare and out-of-print Arabic literary works
in new editions), «ترجمات الكرمة» (selected world fiction in translation), and
«المكتبة الصوفية الصغيرة» (pocket editions of core Sufi texts).
